Chemical Peel

The chemical peels we offer for our Cleveland area patients are designed to stimulate the skin’s natural healing processes to produce a new layer of fresher, smoother skin. Applied topically, the chemical penetrates down to the desired skin layer, allowing the layers above to be exfoliated or sloughed off. Different chemicals are used to create light, medium and deep peels. After the procedure is complete, your body will respond by increasing collagen production, and stem cells in the dermal layers begin regenerating skin for a rejuvenated appearance. Because of the lack of dose control, many deeper peels have been abandoned by me and substituted with laser treatment

Acne And Scar Treatment

Acne scaring results from an overproduction of collagen at the site of an acne wound. Ice pick scars, deep though narrow in diameter, are the most common form of deep acne scars. Boxcar scars, angular and often occurring on the cheeks and temples and can resemble chicken pox scars, can also be deep acne scars.

Dr. Vanek and his staff employ the latest laser technologies for rejuvenating your skin. After your deep acne scars have been evaluated, ablative and/or non-ablative lasers may be recommended. An ablative laser like the Sciton® Profractional™ or the Sciton® MicroLaserPeel™ removes skin cells in a targeted manner to resurface your skin. New collagen is produced which improves the texture, firmness and appearance of your skin. The Mentor Peel™ is a procedure developed and trademarked by Dr. Vanek that combines the Profractional™ and MicroLaserPeel™ treatments to provide exceptional resurfacing outcomes.

A non-ablative treatment, like the intense pulsed light Sciton® BBL™, uses specific wavelengths of light energy to target specific types of cells. The fine blood vessels surrounding the deep acne scars are heated and eliminated, reducing redness and appearance.

Abdomen Reduction

Abdominoplasty is a surgical procedure specifically designed to flatten the appearance of the abdomen

“Abdominoplasty involves an incision in the lower abdomen. It’s near the pubic hair and that frightens some men off, but it shouldn’t. There is no jeopardy of erectile function,” explains Dr. Vanek. After the incision is made, the skin is lifted to expose the muscle wall. The muscles are sutured into a tighter position, and then skin is pulled down over the muscle like a window shade. The excess skin is excised and the incision closed. “It restores your waistline to a bygone era,” says Dr. Vanek, a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

Buccal Fat Removal

Introduction to Buccal Fat Removal

Buccal fat removal is a popular, safe, and straightforward surgery that permanently slims the face and creates more defined cheek and facial contours. It is an excellent option for patients who have a round, full face with excess fat and desire a narrower, less cherubic face for personal or professional reasons. Mentor Plastic Surgery & MedSpa, offers buccal fat removal to patients in the Detroit, MI, area who are seeking a more defined facial appearance. Read on to learn more about buccal fat removal and schedule a consultation today at his Troy office!

What is Buccal Fat Removal?

Buccal fat removal is a minimally invasive in-office procedure that permanently decreases the fullness of the cheeks, allowing the cheekbones to appear more prominent in the facial contours. Using a local anesthetic, excess cheek fat is gently removed through a small incision in the mouth, resulting in a permanently slimmed face and improved cheek contour. The procedure results in thinning of the area just under the cheekbone and above the jawbone. Part of this soft tissue is the buccal fat, which can be reduced in size to create a more contoured, thinner facial appearance with enhanced definition in the jawline and cheekbones.

Chin & Neck Liposuction

What is Chin & Neck Liposuction?

Chin and neck liposuction is a minimally invasive procedure that utilizes liposuction to create a smoother, firmer, and more defined V-shape to enhance the contours of your face. During this procedure, a small incision is made under the chin and behind the earlobes, through which a small cannula is introduced. As suction is applied through the cannula, the fat is mechanically broken apart and removed. This is an effective way to remove isolated pockets of fat and sculpt the chin, jawline, and upper neck.

Who Are the Best Candidates For Chin & Neck Liposuction?

The best candidates for chin/neck liposuction treatment are in good overall health, have realistic goals, and are near their ideal weight. Liposuction is a great alternative for patients who were left with unsatisfactory results from their weight-loss program. Ideal candidates must not be pregnant or breastfeeding.

Chin Augmentation

What is a Chin Augmentation?

Chin augmentation, medically known as genioplasty, is a facial plastic surgery procedure that targets bony chin enlargement using a solid implant that sits on the natural bone structure of the chin to push the chin forward permanently. Dr. Compton prefers solid silicone implants because they are permanent, completely inert in the body, and have very minimal complications. Solid silicone will not create any immune reaction (unlike what can happen with ruptured silicone gel breast implants). Dr. Compton uses chin implants from Implantech, which offer a wide variety of sizes and shapes to suit patients’ needs. During your consultation, Dr. Compton will assess your needs,, and together, you will select an implant that creates the look you want. During the surgery, Dr. Compton will make a small, inconspicuous incision under the chin and expertly insert the implant, securing it to the bone for a permanen,t, stable jawline enhancement. This procedure is highly effective for enhancing jawline definition and creating a harmonious facial profile.

Facelift

What is a Facelift?

A rhytidectomy (more commonly referred to as a “facelift”) reduces visible signs of aging by tightening sagging skin, smoothing deep wrinkles, and lifting facial tissues. Excess skin is removed, the underlying muscles and fat are repositioned, and the skin is redraped to achieve a firmer, more youthful appearance.

Traditional facelifts focus on natural-looking results, avoiding the overly tight or “pulled” look by restoring volume and structure rather than just removing loose skin. Different types of facelifts are also available, depending on one’s aesthetic interests and the severity of their skin concerns. Many of our Detroit facelift patients will also pair their surgery with a neck lift procedure for comprehensive facial rejuvenation.
